I wander through markets overflowing with colors, spices, and people. I get smiled at a lot. I buy a ridiculous headscarf that makes me look like I'm trying out for Bollywood. Worth it. I also tried, and failed miserably, to barter for a small trinket.

Bueno, Chandkheda... es... digamos que no es exactamente Ibiza. Es un suburbio de Ahmedabad, en Gujarat, India. ¡Y es... digamos... *específico*. La razón para ir a Chandkheda (y por extensión, al Hotel Sparsh Inn) es si te toca estar en Ahmedabad por negocios, o quizás por un pariente, o... no sé, por *pura curiosidad* (que fue mi caso, honestamente). Chandkheda no es el paraíso, ni mucho menos. Pero el Sparsh Inn...bueno, llegaremos a eso.
¿El "Paraíso Oculto" es un chiste? ¿Realmente es un "paraíso"?
El "Paraíso Oculto"... es una exageración, ¡claro! (Aunque, bueno, después de un viaje en auto de ocho horas por la India, cualquier lugar con aire acondicionado y una ducha caliente *puede* sentirse como el paraíso, solo digo). No esperes playas de arena blanca ni cócteles a la orilla del mar. Es un hotel funcional, limpio... Y a veces, *muy* tranquilo. En mi caso, me hizo mucha falta una cerveza en la sala, ya que el lobby solo me daba miradas. Es un hotel con el que aprendes a convivir.
¿El Hotel Sparsh Inn es... bueno? ¿O es un desastre?
Mmmm... depende de tus expectativas. No, no es el Ritz. No esperes lujo. Pero tampoco es una pocilga. Está limpio (esto es crucial, créeme). Las habitaciones son decentes, el aire acondicionado funciona (¡GRACIAS A DIOS!), y el personal es... bueno, *intenta* ser útil. Hubo una vez que pedí hielo (¡hace un calor que te derrite!), y tardó una hora y media en llegar. Pero llegó. Me reí, suspiré y me tomé la bebida sin hielo. C'est la vie, ¿no?

Depende... ¡de tu suerte! Las habitaciones que dan a la calle pueden ser ruidosas, con el constante tráfico y los cláxones (¡los cláxones son el deporte nacional de la India!). Pero, la mayoría de las veces es tranquilo. Si tienes sueño ligero... pide una habitación en la parte de atrás. ¡Y lleva tapones para los oídos por si acaso! Los necesité... una noche hubo una boda... y bueno. ¡Fue todo un evento! (Y yo solo quería dormir).
¿Qué hay para hacer en Chandkheda? ¿O debo encerrarme en el hotel?
¡Ah, Chandkheda! ¡La pregunta del millón! No esperes el Louvre. Hay algunos templos locales, tiendas... básicamente, es un lugar residencial. Lo más emocionante que me pasó fue ver a un grupo de monos jugando en un árbol. Pero, en realidad, la mayoría de la gente está allí por negocios o para visitar a familiares en las cercanías. Así que... prepárate para pasar tiempo en el hotel, o explorar Ahmedabad. ¡El centro de la ciudad no está tan lejos! (Considera el tráfico, claro).
¿El personal es amable? ¿Hablan inglés?
El personal... son amables, en general. A veces un poco tímidos, pero siempre intentan ayudar. Muchos hablan inglés, con diferentes niveles de fluidez. Hay que tener paciencia (¡otra vez la paciencia!). Si hablas algo de hindi, ¡te ganarás muchos puntos! Una vez, me perdí intentando encontrar la tienda del hotel.
