¡Casa Adelia: El Paraíso Escondido de Chuka, Kemaman!
¡Ay, Dios Mío! Let's dive headfirst into the hidden paradise of ¡Casa Adelia: El Paraíso Escondido de Chuka, Kemaman! I'm going to be brutally honest, 'cause that's the only way to do this. No sugarcoating here. Prepare yourself, because this is going to be a wild ride.
First Impressions & Getting There (y la Accesibilidad… más o menos)
Okay, so… getting to Casa Adelia is… un poco complicado. It's tucked away, which is the whole "escondido" part, but trust me, you’ll want to be in the car. Don't try it on foot, ni hablar. Once you arrive, the first thing that hits you is the green. So. Much. Green. Like, rainforest green. It's beautiful.
Accessibility? Well, listen, they say "Facilities for disabled guests," and there is an elevator, which is a big plus. But… they are not exactly the most focused of things. Wheelchair may be tricky in places, so call ahead and be a bit assertive con the staff. I’ll give ‘em a solid tres estrellas en este aspecto, por ahora.
Internet & Tech Stuff (¡Gracias a Dios por el Wi-Fi!)
Okay, so… ¡FREE Wi-Fi in ALL ROOMS! Alabado sea! Seriously, in this day and age, it’s a must. And it works. Mostly. Sometimes the signal dips, which is a minor inconvenience, but you’r there for the experience, right? The internet [LAN] is also available if you like a wired connection. Internet services in the Lobby is a big win.
La Comida: A Culinary Adventure (with some ups and downs)
Right, the dining. This is where things get… interesting. There's a restaurants, and they offer Asian cuisine and International cuisine. They have A la carte in restaurant, Breakfast in room, Breakfast takeaway service and Breakfast [buffet].
I had a little hiccup here. So, one morning, I was starving. Went down to the buffet. Let’s just say it wasn't the most exciting spread ever. They had a very… Malaysian-influenced take on scrambled eggs. Let’s just say they weren't the best. But there was fresh fruit – magnifico! – and coffee was plentiful. The Coffee shop also is a good option. The Bar is a nice place to relax. And they also have Poolside bar, which is great.
Another day, I ordered from the Room service [24-hour]. I have to say that the food in room was delicious. In particular, I really enjoyed the Soup in restaurant.
The Bottle of water is always a great touch, and there's a Snack bar, perfect for a late-afternoon nibble. They also have a Vegetarian restaurant.
Para Relajarse… ¡Aaaah! (The Spa & Relaxation)
This is what you come here for, right? The Spa is lovely. I spent a very happy afternoon getting a massage. They have Body scrub, Body wrap, Foot bath, and the works. Pure bliss. The Pool with view is stunning, especially at sunset. They also have a Sauna, Steamroom, and Spa/sauna. The Swimming pool [outdoor] is gorgeous, although the time I went, the water was a touch chilly. But hey, a little refreshing.
Lo Que Puedes Hacer (Things to Do) & Cosas de Familia (For the Kids)
Okay, so, outside of the relaxing spa, the options are a little… limited. It’s about chill. The focus is relaxation. There is Family/child friendly but limited. There are few Kids facilities and Babysitting service.
Limpieza y Seguridad (Cleanliness & Safety)
This is where Casa Adelia really shines. In this day and age, you have to feel safe. And I did. They have Anti-viral cleaning products, Daily disinfection in common areas, Hand sanitizer everywhere, and Staff trained in safety protocol. They have CCTV in common areas and CCTV outside property. They give you room sanitization opt-out if you wish, which is pretty cool. Rooms sanitized between stays. I felt completely at ease from a safety and cleanliness perspective.
The Rooms (Mi Refugio Personal)
The rooms. They're… charming. They have Air conditioning, Alarm clock Coffee/tea maker, Complimentary tea, Free bottled water, Hair dryer, In-room safe box, Refrigerator, and Shower. I loved the Slippers and Bathrobes. Non-smoking rooms are a plus. Wi-Fi [free] works great inside. The beds are comfortable, the blackout curtains are essential for sleeping in, and the air conditioning is a lifesaver in that humidity. I had a room with a view… glorious! The Additional toilet, Additional shower, Separate shower/bathtub and Bathroom phone is a good option.
Servicios y Comodidades (Services & Conveniences)
They have a concierge, which is helpful. Daily housekeeping is on point. The Laundry service and dry cleaning came in handy. They even have a convenience store if you need a quick snack.
Let's talk about the Imperfections
Okay, so… the service isn't always perfect. Sometimes it takes a while to get a drink at the bar. And, let's be honest, the staff's English skills aren't always top-notch. But, I have to say, they are incredibly friendly and welcoming, trying hard to make you feel comfortable.
The Verdict: Should You Go?
¡Absolutamente, sí! If you're looking for a place to truly unplug and relax, Casa Adelia is a solid choice. It's not a luxury resort, mind you. It's more like a charming, slightly rustic, and very welcoming escape. If you want something completely over-the-top, this isn't it. But if you want a place to unwind, get a massage, and feel like you've found a hidden paradise… then go. Just go. You won't regret it.

¡Escándalo en el Puerto de Reino Unido! La impactante verdad sobre la SAL¡Ay, Dios mío! ¡Casa Adelia Studio en Terengganu, allá vamos! This is already a train wreck of excitement and… well, let’s be honest, probably a logistical nightmare. But hey, that's how all the best trips start, right? Here's my estimado (and rapidly evolving) itinerary:
Día 1: Llegada con un "¡OH DIOS MÍO!" & The Great Luggage Debacle
- 12:00 PM: ¡Aterrizamos en el aeropuerto de Kuala Lumpur (KUL)! (Okay, actually we land at what feels like 3 am my body clock, but let's just pretend!) The air… It's thick, humid, and smells AMAZING. Like, I'm pretty sure I'm already sweating, but I'm also ready to eat a mountain of nasi lemak.
- 14:00 PM: Take a taxi to the bus station. My Spanish got rusty on the bus. And the bus is late. Already. Oh, and did I mention luggage? Let's just say a small, very loud, Italian man almost accused me of stealing his luggage. Oops. "¡Lo siento, señor!" (At least that much Spanish is still up to par.)
- 18:00 PM: The Bus! Yes, the bus finally arrives. And there are like 5 people who are literally on the bus.
- 18:30 PM: Journey to Chukai. A 4 hours adventure.
- 22:30 PM: Arrive at Casa Adelia Studio. Find CASA ADELIA. Check-in and hope the room actually looks like the pictures online. (Fingers crossed, porque, let's be real, online photos are a lie more often than not.)
Día 2: Playa, Desayuno con un Desastre, and a Bit of "Lost in Translation"
- 08:00 AM: Wake up. Feel like I've been run over by a Mack truck. But the light! The sun is SHINING.
- 09:00 AM: Breakfast. I decide to be adventurous and try… I don't even know what it is. (Maybe I was feeling homesick and wanted to "speak" with the food) It's spicy. REALLY spicy. My mouth is on FIRE. Cue the frantic waving at the poor waiter for water. He just looks at me, smiles, and says, "Delicious!" (I think he's lying.)
- 10:00 AM: Chukai Beach. The beach is gorgeous. Turquoise water, white sand, but so very hot! (I guess the sun is trying to make up for that spicy breakfast.) I meet this lovely Malaysian family. They try to teach me some Malay phrases. My attempts at pronunciation are met with giggles. I think I accidentally told someone I have a pet… monkey instead of a pet cat. (¡Oh, the shame!)
- 13:00 PM: Lunch. I still can't pronounce anything correctly. It's all a blur of pointing and nodding.
- 15:00 PM: Naps, and then a very long nap. The heat really gets to you.
- 19:00 PM: Dinner at a local warung (food stall). The food is fantastic, and the locals are incredibly welcoming. I even managed to order without completely butchering the language! (Small victories, people!)
- 21:00 PM: The hotel is on the edge of the city.
Día 3: The Pasar Malam Expedition (and Almost Losing My Mind)
- 09:00 AM: Wake with a song
- 10:00 AM: Breakfast. I tried to order something familiar and ended up with… well, let's just say it involved durian. (The "smelly fruit". The smell! The taste! It's an experience, alright.) I'm still not sure if I liked it or if I'm traumatized for life.
- 17:00 PM: Pasar Malam (night market) adventure! Prepare for sensory overload. Colors, smells, sounds, everything! I got lost in a sea of people, tripped over something, and almost lost my wallet! (I swear, my heart was in my throat.) The food, though, made it all worth it. Satay, spring rolls, and weird, delicious things I can't even name. I felt like a conquistador in reverse, discovering edible treasures.
- 20:00 PM: Back to the Casa Adelia. Back to the hotel and I've lost my mind because I don't know where I am.
- 22:00 PM: Sleep. I've never been so tired.
Día 4: Recharging and Reflections (Mostly Nap Time, TBH)
- 09:00 AM: Breakfast, and I'm pretty sure I have a stomach ache.
- 10:00 AM: Quiet time. Reflect on my travel and what I want for my life. Involves a lot of thinking about food and what I want to eat next.
- 12:00 PM: Read a book.
- 14:00 PM: NAP.
- 16:00 PM: The sky opens up, and it rains! I did not expect that.
- 18:00 PM: Dinner. Try a new restaurant.
Día 5: Departure and a Promise to Return (When I've Learned Actual Malay)
- 08:00 AM: Pack. I'm pretty sure my suitcase is heavier than when I arrived. (Blame the souvenirs, the spice cravings, and that sneaky durian.)
- 09:00 AM: One last breakfast. A much safer choice this time.
- 10:00 AM: Check out of Casa Adelia Studio. This place has been wonderful, even with all the mishaps.
- 11:00 AM: Head to the bus station, and another long bus ride.
- 15:30 PM: Head back to Kuala Lumpur.
- 18:00 PM: Board the plane back home.
- 20:00 PM: My trip comes to an end.
Notas Finales/Random Thoughts:
- My Spanish is rusty, my Malay is nonexistent, and my sense of direction is terrible. But honestly? It’s perfect.
- I need to get better at using Google Translate.
- This whole experience has been a wild, wonderful, often messy adventure. I’m exhausted, overwhelmed, and utterly in love with Malaysia.
- I'll be back. And next time, I promise, I'll learn how to ask for the cat without accidentally requesting a pet monkey. ¡Hasta luego, Malaysia! (And, yes, that’s the only Malay I know. For now.)
